Welcome to the Salt Lake SHRM Student Page!

Whether you are a student in a traditional human resources program or in another related field, SLSHRM is the place for you if you plan to enter the professional field ofhuman resources and organizational development.

As the Director of Student Programs, I am excited to invite you to become an active member of our Salt Lake chapter.SLSHRM provides not only excellent learning opportunities on all aspects of the field, but also very important networking opportunities with HR professionals from around the Salt Lake City area. As a student member, you will receive opportunities to broaden your knowledge of the technical aspects and meet many professionals in the field.

If you are interested in attending one of our monthly luncheons, please contact me after you have registered. I would love to meet you at the meeting, discuss how you can become more involved in the chapter, and match you with one of our board members who will be happy to sit with you at the luncheon and answer any questions that you may have.


The benefits of joining SLSHRM as a student member are:

  • reduced membership cost
  • access to current information and changes in HRM trends and employment law
  • the opportunity to network with professionals in the field during luncheons
  • chapter sponsored seminars at reduced fees
  • access to employment opportunities

To join SLSHRM as a Student Member, the following criteria must be met:

  • The student is enrolled in an HR or related degree program (examples include Human Resource Management, Human Resource Development, Business Administration & Management, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Labor Relations, MBA, MBA/HR, Organizational Behavior, Organizational Development, and Sociology).
  • The student is enrolled in at least six credit hours per semester, or during a 15 week equivalency.
  • Student membership is limited to a maximum of six years, non-consecutive.
  • Students who are in established, professional roles will retain their current SHRM membership status. Existing professional members will not be eligible to downgrade to student membership.
  • Students will no longer be required to submit copies of their course schedules as proof of enrollment, however, they would be required to agree to a statement of affirmation.
